Lightning Over the SPQ

Back in Leinster, and it's easy to become fixated on the weather. With an average of 37.8°C and not the worlds greatest AC, I consult weather sites religiously, if only to support my constant complaints and counter complaints to the folks back home. Who claim to be having a summer. My current favourite is http://www.weatherzone.com.au/wa/goldfields/leinster where I have all the impressive numbers (and words, like 'almanac') stacked up for my bitching pleasure. For instance, right now it's a quarter to 9 (am), it's 32.6°C but it feels like 33.2°C. I wonder how they decide what it 'feels like'?

About the photo. Last night when it had cooled down enough to take the borrowed dog (Stella) for a walk, we were treated to a magical experience. It seemed like every time I looked up (I generally walk with my eyes down round here, as you never know what delightful creatures might develop a sudden hankering for exposed toe) I saw something truly inspiring. It was vividly clear, and every so often there was a flash of lightning. Bizarrely, there was no audible thunder and we were in awe of the brilliance of the silent lightning against the star sprayed night. I even spotted a shooting star streaking across the sky. It was ample consolation for missing the New Year celebrations that must be full boom in Harbin right now, and the heat and peacefulness a contrast to the joyful chilly cacophony. Happy Chinese New Year!!
