These shots were taken on a visit to the countryside just outside Harbin city. We were received by a farming family with the warmest, most genuine welcome ever and shared a day with them. A very good Chinese friend bridged the language gap to help us to understand the simple lifestyle enjoyed by this family and others like them. Crystallised in my memory is the sound of birdsong (that I hadn't realised I missed) and the crisp October light.
