Just because i like it

I'm posting this pic simply because I like how it came out. I took the shot with the camera set up for tungston lighting, giving the photograph an overall blue cast. I took several other shots with natural light settings at different shutter speeds etc. but I like this one the best, I thin the blue cast gives it a drama that the more natural shots lack.
Feel free to make any comments you like or if you're interested in any of my work you can contact me at david.bliman@gmail.com . have a great day. Posted by Picasa

Waterfall

We found this a couple weeks ago while walking one of the many tracks in the Waitakare Ranges. It's alot more spectacular if you see it in person, & i highly recomend spending some time looking for it.
I'm not going to tell you where it is, because finding it for yourself is half the fun of these things. Posted by Picasa

Auckland by night

This shot was takin from Cornwall Park one evening in late winter. I like the way the trees look against the sky & you can even see stars above them.
It always makes me smile to think that it doesnt matter if your looking at the roughest part of town when the sun goes down & the lights come on there is beauty to be found in any city. Posted by Picasa

A view from the bottom of the lunch box!

This bird is a New Zealand Falcon, a very rare & absolutely fearless predator. Very seldom seen in the wild, not necessarily because they are not there, but because they are aware & intelligent birds & will deliberately hide from you if they know you are there, & with acute vision & excellent hearing, they know you're there.
The Falcon is exclusively a killer, a Falcon will take every meal fresh.
This particular birds live at Wingspan in Rotorua, a facility dedicated to the preservation & breeding of these wonderful creatures. The aviaries are open to the public & there are flying displays every afternoon. Further information can be found at www.wingspan.co.nz. Posted by Picasa

Jonquil

I took this photo some time ago at my parent's farm near Kerikeri. A good example of something both common and beautiful. Posted by Picasa

Power Cut

Well as most of you know we had a small power cut in Auckland the other day & I have to say it was more than a little inconvenient. However all was not lost. With little better to do & no power with which to do it I decided to have a play with the candles I was using to light the cave I live in & was rather pleased with the result. Definitely an experiment but a useful one none the less. I shall be revisiting this style in the future. Hope you like it. Posted by Picasa

Looks lovely when the lights are out

I love doing these kinda shots & this one turned out rather nicely. Its one of those places thats nice enough during the day, but when it's a little chilly & the city lights are on in the background it really is a lovely place to go & have a stroll. Posted by Picasa

Pretty... Isn't it.

This was my next door neighbor so to speak while I was in Australia. There were a few of them about but I have no idea what species they are or even for tha matter if they are dangerous at all. I do however, think they are quite beautifull, so here it is for your viewing pleasure. Posted by Picasa

The Fishes

This series I shot at Sea World on the Gold Coast. It's pretty self explanatory really, as it's some of the kinds of things they have on display at the park.
The shows are well worth going to see as they are a lot of fun & show off just how smart these animals really are. Have a great day. Posted by Picasa

Big... Isnt it

Here is another one from the Dream World set. Baring in mind that the man in the picture is near enough 6 feet tall & the cat can stand at least a meter taller than he is in this photo, he really is a fairly large cat.
There are no white Bengal tigers left in the wild, the last one having been killed by a trophy hunter in the fiftys, so the only place you will ever get to see them is in zoos & places such as Dream World. Follow the link http://www.dreamworld.com.au/content/standard3.asp?name=TigerIsland
& have a look at what they are doing & if you feel you are in a position to support them in any way please do so, even if it's only by going to see the show. Posted by Picasa

At the beach

This is a typical sunrise in Surfers paradise, complete with surfers. The kite surfers where taken later in the day but they generally show up as soon as the wind does. Once again this is only a sample of what I got while over there & there is more to come. Enjoy Posted by Picasa

Cats

Spent some time in Australia recently, & while there went to Dream World. Tiger Island is well worth the visit. This is just a very small sample of the shots I got, & if you get a chance to go, stay for the show its fascinating stuff. They also give you a chance to assist financially with the conservation programs for tigers in the wild. Posted by Picasa

Random pictures

This simply a collection of shots I personally like. As you can see there is a fair range of subject matter, but I'm told variety is the spice of life so why not.
As usual any of these photographs can be purchased, but if you happen to like the jewelery in these shots, head down the the Aotea Square Markets on a Friday or Saturday & have a look at all the other wonderful pieces of original jewelery that my friend Ernesto has to offer. Well worth the effort. Posted by Picasa

Piha

This is a group of shots I took one day at Piha beach. As you can see it was great weather & I was able to capture some wonderful images. For many of the shots I took advantage of the abundant high ground along that part of the coast & the result was well worth the climb involved. Posted by Picasa

A Collage this time

This is a selection of shots I like & decided to share with you all. I have hundreds more like them as this is a preferred subject type of mine.
There are many places in New Zealand where this kind of thing can be seen & believe it or not most of these shots were taken in the middle of Auckland. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do & if you live in the Auckland area I would encourage you to find the locations where the varying shots were taken Posted by Picasa

Welcome to Photographic Art New Zealand. Any Photographs you see in this Blog are for sale & can be printed & sent to you in many forms from classic prints to mugs & aprons. If you don't see anything you like let me know & I can do something personal for you

This is one of my favorite shots. It was taken in the middle of Auckland close to roads & shops & traffic. I'd be prepared to bet very few people know of its existence so this may be the only place you get to see it. Posted by Picasa
